Recycling Rainwater

The storm that hit Austin Wednesday night knocked out power and produced a tornado, but thanks to Master Gardener Mike Kaderabek, the Junior Gardeners team is putting some of the rainwater to good use. The youth who met in the rain Thursday, June 18, saw the rain barrels in action (see video). The barrels collect water from the gutters on the Mower County 4-H building for use in watering vegetables, herbs, and flowers in the garden. Mike installed the barrels on the May 18 work night.
